We back and are actively involved in the Caribbean AI Taskforce and their process, chaired by our Executive Director.
The Caribbean AI TaskForce is a regional initiative aiming to harmonize AI policy, governance, and capacity across Caribbean states. The TaskForce develops model legislation, fosters cross-sectoral partnerships, and drives the ethical, inclusive AI agenda for the region.

This initiative aims to bring a close to the AI divide by facilitating coordination and the availability of in-kind contributions from universities, corporations, Member States and other relevant actors, and to undertake a range of other useful activity to build AI capacity, anchored in shared normative commitments.

The CARICOM-UNDP's Joint Regional AI Programme (2026-2030) is a joint effort between the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) secretariat and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to frame a high-level regional AI programme for robust governance, shared standards and strong local capacity. This initiative draws on previous and naturally extends from ongoing AI initiatives in the Caribbean region.

Her Space in AI is a collaborative research, development, advocacy and mentorship community that brings together scholars and technology practitioners across multiple fields.
It functions as an advocacy and mentorship community that brings together scholars and technology practitioners across multiple fields.
Due to the necessity of not only including women in decision-making but of ensuring that women possess the skills to meaningfully contribute to the ongoing AI revolution, the group’s focus will be oriented around initiatives, campaigns and opportunities for capacity building in relation to AI literacy, and other necessary digital skills.
The rationale for the working group is informed by the following thematic areas:
-The Gender Digital Divide & Gender Inclusion in Technology
-AI’s Impact on the Lives and Livelihoods of Women
-Necessity of Capacity building

The AIIC and the CRC have partnered to stand up the Digital Cocoa Climate and Genomics Accelerator, which hosts several projects that merge AI, genetics and climate research. CRC hosts the world largest cocoa gene bank, AIIC hosts the Caribbean's best AI expertise. Work is on the way to build an audit-ready MRV for agroforestry carbon and pathways have been carved out for research into developing drought and disease-resistant varieties.
